\nDr. Jay C. Butler is the CDC Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases. In this role, Dr. Butler serves as the principal advisor to the CDC Director on infectious disease issues, provides strategic leadership to CDC\u2019s three infectious disease national centers, and works with internal and external partners to advance infectious disease prevention programs and priorities.
\nAims to prevent disease, disability, and death caused by a wide range of infectious diseases. The center focuses on diseases that have been around for many years, emerging diseases (those that are new or recently identified), and zoonotic diseases (those spread from animals to people).
\nMaximizes public health and safety nationally and internationally through the elimination, prevention, and control of disease, disability, and death caused by HIV/AIDS, non-HIV retroviruses, viral hepatitis, other STDs, and TB.
\nAims to prevent disease, disability, and death through immunization and by control of respiratory and related diseases.
