RAP (Relax. Aware. Personal Rating) skills is a peer-led depression prevention intervention based on the Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS). The SPACS curriculum was contextualized to be relevant to an urban, African American out-of-school population with the help of the SPARCS developers, Center staff and alumni from partners at the Baltimore YO Center, an employment training program. The revised curriculum teaches coping skills to help youth who are at risk for depression avoid developing clinical depression. The training for this curriculum focuses on the following: research, mental health, guidelines and tips for group facilitation, the RAP curriculum, and protecting participants.
\nAudience
Urban, African American adolescents and young adults aged 16-24 who are at risk for depression
Duration
50 hours
